VIZX LABS ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS, RECRUITMENT

Olson, Audley, Kozlowski, Boone, Kovacs take new positions

January 9, 2006 - Seattle - In the midst of another successful quarter, VizX Labs announced a series of promotions today to meet the increasing demand for its GeneSifter expression analysis software. N. Eric Olson, PhD, formerly Scientific Director, was promoted to Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. David Audley, formerly Director of Sales, is now Vice President of Sales. Jeff Kozlowski, formerly Senior Software Engineer, is now Director of GeneSifter Development. Additionally, the GeneSifter sales team has been restructured, with former Account Manager Anna Boone becoming the Eastern Region Sales Manager, and Monika Kovacs joining the company as Western Region Sales Manager.

Dr. Eric Olson joined VizX Labs in 2001 when VizX merged with Neobase, the bioinformatics company he and Kozlowski founded. Prior to founding Neobase, Olson worked as a researcher at the University of Washington. His accomplishments included development of methods to search human genome databases for novel proteins involved in the regulation of immunobiology. The author of various scientific publications including papers in vascular biology, Eric earned his Ph.D. in Pathology and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington. He is also co-inventor with Kozlowski of VizX Labs' "Biological Sequence Probe" patent. "Over the past four years, Eric has helped hundreds of researchers around the world with their microarray analysis," said VizX CEO Tom Ranken, "and he is a leading expert in the field."

David Audley joined VizX as Director of Sales in May of 2005 and has overseen sales of VizX Lab's flagship product, GeneSifter, since that time. Audley has extensive success in technology sales management, including work as Director of Business Development and Marketing with Memetic Systems and Vice-President of Business Development at Exem Company. "In just a few short months, David has accomplished incredible sales growth," noted Ranken, "and he has greatly strengthened the sales pipeline ensuring even better results in the future." Audley holds a B.A. from Willamette University and a M.A. from Portland State University, where he also completed his coursework for a Ph.D.

Jeff Kozlowski joined VizX Labs with Olson after the merger with Neobase in 2001 and has led the development of the award-winning GeneSifter system. For ten years, he worked in the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington as a technician and later as a Research Scientist. There, he designed molecular biology experiments and developed software to enhance arteriosclerosis research. After co-founding Neobase in 1998 with Olson, he joined a leading web-hosting company where he designed web-based information management applications and was later in charge of the company's U.S. network. "In many ways, Jeff is the heart and soul of our company," said Ranken. "Not only has he written much of the GeneSifter code, but he has always kept it running smoothly for our customers." Kozlowski holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington.

Anna Boone joined VizX in August from Gian DeCaro Sartoria, where she worked as Executive and Sales Assistant, and recently graduated from Seattle University with a B.S. in biology. Previously, she had worked at Corixa, a Seattle biotechnology company. "We have set record after record in sales in recent months. Anna has been a key part of that," noted Ranken.

Monika Kovacs joins VizX from the University of Washington where she served as a Research Scientist and Lab Manager at Harborview Medical Center. She holds a B.S. in physical and biological sciences from Evergreen State College. "As more and more researchers discover the help that GeneSifter offers them, it has become necessary to expand our sales staff to make that help available," said Ranken. "Monika is going to play an important role of the new records we're on track to set in the coming year."
